ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WINK) \u2014 A domestic disturbance in a quiet Englewood neighborhood ended in a deadly deputy-involved shooting Wednesday, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The Charlotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office says deputies responded to a home on Barker Avenue after receiving calls that a subject was armed and holding another person at gunpoint. Deputies were able to get other occupants out safely before attempting to negotiate with the armed individual.<\/p>\n
When the person exited the home holding a gun and refused to comply with deputies\u2019 orders to drop it, a deputy fired. First responders immediately attempted CPR, but the individual later died from their injuries, officials confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis investigation is still very fresh,\u201d Sheriff Bill Prummell said during a press conference. \u201cWe are still on scene, collecting evidence and statements, so details may change as we continue gathering information.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neighbors described the area as normally calm. \u201cEnglewood\u2019s peaceful. Not a lot of crime going on here,\u201d said Nazar Marchuk, who lives nearby. Chres Amo, who rides his bike through the neighborhood every day, added, \u201cIt\u2019s just crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The scene remained active Wednesday evening, with crime scene tape, deputies, forensic units, and a mobile command center on site. Authorities are continuing to collect evidence and speak with witnesses.<\/p>\n

The Charlotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office has not released the names of the individuals involved. Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
