Work walls have gone up around a section of Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure. Universal Orlando had previously said that this work will help prepare the area for future development. Rumors in the past had been for Zelda attractions to replace this area, but new discussion among fans seems to revolve around a possible Pokemon land<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s check out the latest developments from within Islands of Adventure, as well as see what permits for the upcoming work around Lost Continent can tell us, in today\u2019s breaking news update.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Despite the Lost Continent area not containing an open ride or show for several years, the land itself has remained open, featuring only dining, shopping, and sporadic character meet and greets.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Poseidon\u2019s Fury indoor attraction closed back in May 2023<\/a>. The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show closed all the way back in 2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Permits were posted in September of 2025<\/a> for the demolition of some structures within Islands of Adventure. The first of these permits described \u201cdemolition of 4.9 acres of theme park site including retail\/show\/attraction buildings and associated utilities, pedestrian facilities, and access roadway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speculation quickly turned to Lost Continent, but theme park fans didn\u2019t have to wonder long, as a representative for Universal Orlando gave official comment to the Orlando Business Journal<\/a> regarding the permits, stating:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It took nearly half a year, but all of the related permits for this upcoming work were recently finalized and issued, with most ready back in February.<\/p>\n

Now armed with their approved permits, it appears that a phased demolition plan is being put into action this week.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Work walls are only around an area closest to the Sindbad theater at this time, with preliminary work happening now, presumably before the theater can be knocked down.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The work walls feature round icons, including one with the Lost Continent logo itself.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With the logos on the walls relating to Lost Continent itself, it\u2019s not hinting at any type of replacement for the land at this time, remaining in theme for the area.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To help prepare for the ongoing work, changes to the access road are happening backstage. This way vehicles and Team Members will still have access to areas near construction that may otherwise be blocked by demolition and large equipment.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Theme Park Wizard<\/a> was first to spot the permits that may be related to these roadway changes.<\/p>\n

Bioreconstruct<\/a> caught some of the backstage roadway work happening in a photo during a recent aerial flight over the parks.<\/p>\n

A couple weeks ago saw the permanent closure of the All Hallow\u2019s Eve Boutique, as well as the relocation of the Henna Tattoos and Psychic, from within the Lost Continent area all the way to Port of Entry, near the front of the park.<\/p>\n

To offer a new venue for the former Boutique\u2019s unique merchandise offerings, a new Tribute-Store-like space opened in Port of Entry, named All Hallow\u2019s Eve Lost Emporium.<\/p>\n

The new open air market in Port of Entry features some of the decor originally seen in Lost Continent, as well as new purpose-built set pieces, like a Carnotaurus skull atop a crate with a curious message, (that may be a nod to the recently closed DinoLand, USA<\/a> at Disney\u2019s Animal Kingdom).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Fans are wondering if since these market shops can be relocated to Port of Entry, perhaps the Mystic Fountain can as well?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As of now the Mystic Fountain remains in place and accessible to guests within Lost Continent. Although, there are rumors that it too will be placed behind work walls in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Some are giving the Mystic Fountain till mid May, so be sure to say your goodbyes before it is too late.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Currently, Universal Orlando has offered no further comment on what is to become of the Lost Continent area. They have also not given an official timeline for when the remaining shopping or dining locations will close, including Mythos.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It is expected that the rest of the land will be demolished in phases, with Sindbad theater being the first phase.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Demolition is speculated to move on to the market areas, including work walls along guest pathways, and then Poseidon\u2019s Fury, before finally Mythos, which may be the last to close and be blocked by walls from guest view.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

At this time there has been no date given for the possible future closure of Mythos. We also do not know if the popular dining location will be re-themed to match the future land, or be removed entirely.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As mentioned before, the leading rumor for what property will be taking over the Lost Continent area once it\u2019s demolished, is Pokemon.<\/p>\n

In January of this year The Pokemon Company and Universal Destinations & Experiences announced plans<\/a> to bring attractions based on the popular franchise to theme parks around the world.<\/p>\n
