The Captiva Chapel by the Sea and \u2018Tween Waters Inn & Marina will host a special performance, \u201cOpera on the Beach,\u201d on April 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. on the beachfront adjacent to the historic chapel.<\/p>\n

A concert of arias and duets, it will feature soprano Susan Hellman Spatafora joined by tenor Adam Diegel and pianist Brent Douglas. Free and open to all, the performance will highlight opera favorites.<\/p>\n

The chapel reported that \u201cSunset Arias \u2014 Opera on the Beach\u201d concerts were a long-held tradition at \u2018Tween Waters before Hurricane Ian in 2022. Residents and visitors have been keen to reinstate the series, which combines world-class operatic performances with the natural beauty of Captiva\u2019s shores.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to bring back this cherished tradition to our beach community,\u201d chapel Board Member Nathalie Pyle said. \u201cTo gather with friends on the breathtaking Captiva seaside and experience the soaring beauty of opera and the human voice, all set against the backdrop of God\u2019s natural splendor, is truly unforgettable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The performance will include well-loved arias and duets from operas, including Verdi\u2019s \u201cLa Traviata,\u201d Gounod\u2019s \u201cRom\u00e9o et Juliette,\u201d Carlisle Floyd\u2019s \u201cSusannah,\u201d Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s \u201cRusalka,\u201d and Puccini\u2019s \u201cTosca,\u201d \u201cLa Boh\u00e8me\u201d and \u201cTurandot\u201d that will be familiar to new listeners and seasoned opera-goers.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tween Waters will offer a pre-opera dinner before the concert at its Old Captiva House.<\/p>\n

Seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or beach towel.<\/p>\n

Parking will be available.<\/p>\n
