\u00a0History Fort Lauderdale<\/a>, proud steward of our community\u2019s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, is bringing back \u201cA Stitch in Time,\u201d a vibrant series of quilt shows in collaboration with local textile guilds. This free public exhibition series, beginning on Sunday, May 3, in collaboration with the Quilt Guild by the Sea (QGbtS), will celebrate the artistry and tradition of quilting, bringing colorful stories to life through fabric and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

Quilt lovers and curious visitors alike are invited to enjoy these one-day-only pop-up displays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., coinciding with the City\u2019s Riverwalk Jazz Brunch series. Quilts will be on display draped over the second-story balcony and showcased inside the New River Inn Museum, offering visitors a rich blend of craftsmanship and history.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with Quilt Guild by the Sea to showcase the artistry and storytelling behind this timeless textile tradition that transcends generations,\u201d said\u00a0Patricia Zeiler, executive director of History Fort Lauderdale.\u00a0\u201cThis art truly unites the community through its modern visual narratives woven with passion, preservation and family history. We invite guests to enjoy a day of exploration and music with us amidst the shaded palms and beautiful waterfront views on the Riverwalk.\u201d<\/p>\n

QGbtS\u00a0began in 2011 with a group of six women with a common interest in quilting, sharing ideas, community service, and fellowship. Now, with more than 125 members, the group gives back to the community through distribution of quilts to Quilts of Valor, Boca Raton Regional Hospital Infusion Center, Lynn Cancer Institute of Boca Raton and Delray Beach Hospital, and Women in Distress. It also creates Comfort Bears for the Achievement Center in Delray Beach and the Children\u2019s Place in Lake Worth.<\/p>\n

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week\u00a0from 10 a.m. \u2013 4 p.m.\u00a0with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under.
