BAKER COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A wildfire reported at the Florida-Georgia line<\/a> in Baker County, Florida, and Clinch County, Georgia, on Thursday evening has grown to 4,000 acres as of 11:40 a.m. Friday, April 3, according to a Georgia Forestry Service (GFC) spokesperson.<\/p>\n

GFC said on Facebook that smoke from the fire, located off Florida State Road 2, is expected to impact Waycross and the surrounding areas. A majority of it is reportedly burning in Florida, as no structures are currently threatened.<\/p>\n

Multiple agencies, including GFC, the Florida Forest Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, are actively working the fire with ground and aerial resources, according to GFC.<\/p>\n

“The Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC) and Florida Forest Service (FFS) are operating under unified command and are in the process of establishing a joint Type 3 Incident Management Team,” GFC said in a Friday morning update. “Today, eight strike teams\u2014four from each state\u2014are actively working the fire. Weather conditions are expected to be favorable today, and crews will continue working the fire aggressively.<\/p>\n
