TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Family members of a Tallahassee hit-and-run victim are sharing gratitude with residents and police after an arrest was announced this week.<\/a><\/p>\n

Marvin Calhoun was hit near West Tennessee Street and Junco Court<\/a> on March 5. He later died from his injuries at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n

The loss has been hard on his family left behind. The victim\u2019s daughter, Kzonic Martin, said he was very attentive.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would call me on the phone, even if I did not get a chance to talk to him, he would always leave this, \u2018he\u2019s like you\u2019re always my Babygirl, my world, my baby girl,\u2019\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n

Martin and her husband talked with WCTV after TPD charged Nigeria Grant with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shed tears. I was relieved. I was happy that they caught the person that did this, but at the same time, it hurts because this was not supposed to happen,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n

Marvin Calhoun was a veteran and served in the Army, Martin said. She described her father as funny and upbeat. \u201cHe loved to cook,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Martin\u2019s family expressed thanks to TPD and residents for the work on the case. Investigators previously shared photos of the suspect\u2019s vehicle<\/a> on social media and asked for information.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe definitely appreciate the public\u2019s support. Everyone, Tallahassee Police Department, TPD, the detectives, all the way down to the victim advocates, as well as the state examiner\u2019s office. They have all been extremely helpful,\u201d Guy Martin said.<\/p>\n

Family members are still making funeral arrangements from out of town, but they\u2019ve set up a GoFundMe<\/a> for donations.<\/p>\n
