SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 Since Florida\u2019s crackdown on \u2018super speeders\u2019 started in July, hundreds of people have been arrested all over Central Florida for driving dangerously fast. But what happens when a driver is caught going 100 mph or more \u2014 or 50 mph or more over the posted speed limit \u2014 twice?<\/p>\n
Court records from Seminole County show a driver was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol in July when a trooper was conducting speed enforcement on I-4 near mile marker 91. An arrest report states the trooper\u2019s radar received a \u201creadout speed of 100 mph.\u201d<\/p>\n
Video obtained by News 6 shows the trooper pulling over the silver Toyota and talking to the driver, who appears to have a record. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s already got a 93 in a 65,\u201d the trooper can be heard saying. \u201cHe\u2019s had, like, one, two, three tickets last year. Already has one this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trooper tells the 20-year-old driver about Florida\u2019s law before placing him in handcuffs and into the back of the patrol car. <\/p>\n
\u201cOh my god! I\u2019ve never been in this position before. I\u2019m so scared,\u201d the driver can be heard saying in the video from the backseat. <\/p>\n
The driver also starts to ask the trooper questions about his bond and his record. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat goes on the public record, yeah?\u201d he can be heard saying in the video. <\/p>\n
\u201cProbably,\u201d the trooper replies. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to slow it down now. The state of Florida doesn\u2019t play anymore. You should have learned that with your last two speeding tickets that you had, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n
Court records show the 20-year-old bonded out, and his case was resolved in less than a month with a plea, six months of probation and deferred adjudication. <\/p>\n
Then, in late December, records show he was arrested again on a charge of \u2018dangerous excessive speed – excess of the speed limit at 100 mph or more\u2019 in Manatee County. <\/p>\n
An FHP citation for that offense documents an unlawful speed of 117 mph in a 70 mph zone. A warrant for his arrest was issued out of Seminole County once again for violating probation in the previous case, court documents show. <\/p>\n
This time, the driver was held without a bond. Court records show that, after a hearing, he was sentenced to jail for 18 days \u2014 with credit for 18 days \u2014 and admitted to violation of probation. He was adjudicated of the speeding charge and released, according to the records.<\/p>\n

This time, the driver was held without a bond. Court records show that, after a hearing, he was sentenced to jail for 18 days \u2014 with credit for 18 days \u2014 and admitted to violation of probation. He was adjudicated of the speeding charge and released, according to the records.<\/p>\n
Under the law, someone who commits \u201cdangerous excessive speeding\u201d can be punished by up to 30 days in jail and a fine of $500 for a first offense.<\/p>\n
A second offense could result in up to 90 days in jail and a fine of $1,000.<\/p>\n
Additionally, a repeat offense within five years could result in revocation of that person\u2019s driver\u2019s license for up to a year.<\/p>\n
