People make a living by this,\u201d Ramnarace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/region-s-palm-beach-county\/boynton-beach\/boynton-beach-handyman-sues-city-over-ordinance-banning-his-work-truck-from-his-own-driveway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told WPTV.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bali Ramnarace was fined $345 for parking his commercial truck in his driveway in Boynton Beach, Florida. Fox29<\/p>\n<p>The single father, who is at the center of a civil lawsuit with the Palm Beach County city, asked to be \u201cgrandfathered\u201d in because he\u2019s been parking the vehicle in his own driveway for 45 years, and it physically helps him each day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they should have some consideration, because I\u2019m handicapped and this is very convenient when this is here at my house,\u201d Ramnarace said. \u201cThat\u2019s how I make a living, without that I can\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boynton Beach City officials argued Ramnarace\u2019s truck violates the municipal code, which is aimed at regulating vehicles in residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>The code, <a href=\"https:\/\/library.municode.com\/fl\/boynton_beach\/codes\/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=CH14MOVETR_S14-3TRPARE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Chapter 14 Section 14-3,<\/a> is intended to protect \u201cproperty values and character of property within residential areas\u201d by eliminating larger vehicles, including trucks, tractors, heavy equipment and buses from parking in certain neighborhoods for more than 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Ramnarace said his vehicle meets all allowed specifications except for it being labeled as a \u201ctruck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always do what they say, 10-foot box truck, single axle, no more than 16,000 pounds in weight, this is only 5,900,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Ramnarace asked to be \u201cgrandfathered\u201d in because he\u2019s been parking the vehicle in his own driveway for 45 years. Fox29<\/p>\n<p>Boynton Beach filed a lawsuit against Ramnarace for his parking violation back in March 2026. Fox29<\/p>\n<p>Along with the $345 fine, Ramnarace would be fined an additional $75 for each month he continues to violate the policy.<\/p>\n<p>The handyman, who uses the truck to carry material for his job, hasn\u2019t developed a backup parking plan if he caves to the city\u2019s pressure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what I have to do, they did not say where we can park it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the $345 fine, Ramnarace would be fined an additional $75 for each month he continues to violate the policy.
