Massive police investigations took place near three schools in Miami<\/a> on Wednesday after threats were made that were later determined to be hoaxes, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

Miami-Dad<\/a>e Schools Police said that an anonymous person called 911 on Wednesday morning and told law enforcement that they were going to harm students.<\/p>\n

The caller did not specify if they were targeting Kinloch Park Elementary School or Kinloch Park Middle School, but both schools were locked down as a precaution.<\/p>\n

West Miami Middle School, which is located nearby, was also put in lockdown as a precaution.<\/p>\n

“We needed to lock the door and go into the bathroom,” Fifth grade student Elias told CBS News Miami. “The teacher told us to be quiet.”<\/p>\n

A handful of law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, including the City of Miami Police<\/a>, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office<\/a> and the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

A helicopter was used to search the area from above, too.<\/p>\n

Now one parent told CBS News Miami that they need to explain what happened to their young children.<\/p>\n

“You got to let them learn that this is not a game,” one parent said. “That something very serious could happen.”<\/p>\n

Miami-Dade Schools Police said they are still working to determine who made the hoax call, and reminded everyone that making threats like these are a felony.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported during the incident.<\/p>\n
