The program is designed to encourage underserved youth to make the right choices. Grammy-award winner and former drummer for BB King, Willie Covington, helps run the organization. &#8220;It gave me inspiration to give something back to the kids, to the young people,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Especially young people that want to be in music. I want to show them that they can really make it. It just takes a lot of work, a lot of hard work and practice.&#8221; Through that hard work and practice, Covington has seen young people go on to graduate college, get jobs, and even support their families. State Rep. Anna Eskamani also attended the show. She said the impact this organization makes goes beyond the talent show.&#8221;Regardless of the environment around them, how much money their family has or doesn&#8217;t have, that every student has a voice and place to grow into young leaders,&#8221; Eskamani said.Right now, she is advocating for funding for the organization. &#8220;We want to see this program grow and expand, and I think it&#8217;s really good to show its impact to a state-wide audience, as well,&#8221; she said.
