Florida State football fans are already under the impression that Mike Norvell<\/a> doesn\u2019t recruit high school players well enough for their liking. The Nole haven\u2019t signed a top 10 recruiting class under Norvell, and most of the highest-ranking guys haven\u2019t amounted to much for one reason or another.<\/p>\n

That hasn\u2019t stopped Norvell and the staff from getting some top high school players on campus, including four-star quarterback Israel Abrams. Abrams was the only quarterback to have an official visit set with the Noles, but announced his commitment to the rival Miami Hurricanes on Friday. <\/p>\n

That was the expectation for folks who follow high school recruiting closely. However, the news shouldn\u2019t bother Florida State fans for two major reasons.<\/p>\n

Who was the high school quarterback to sign with Miami to amount to anything? Miami has become Transfer Portal U for the quarterback position since Mario Cristobal became the head coach. Don\u2019t get me wrong, that\u2019s been a major part of their success in that time frame. However, why would a high school recruit want to go play for a program that doesn\u2019t use high school players at that position?<\/p>\n

One could say Abrams is highly ranked and can learn enough from a transfer portal player to start after redshirting as a freshman. However, in today\u2019s times, high school quarterbacks don\u2019t want to wait to play and often hop in the portal after one year if that\u2019s the case. That\u2019s a waste of money.<\/p>\n
