A 53-year-old man, who allegedly proposed to his Orlando fianc\u00e9e with an engagement ring that was stolen from his girlfriend in Orange City, has been arrested after he was found living with another woman.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, the Orange City woman contacted the Volusia County Sheriff\u2019s Office to report that her boyfriend, later identified as Joseph Davis, was \u201cengaged to someone else.\u201d The Orange City woman further stated that she looked up the fianc\u00e9e\u2019s Facebook page and observed in a photo that the fianc\u00e9e was \u201cwearing a wedding band and engagement ring that was identical to her own, from a previous marriage,\u201d according to VCSO.<\/p>\n
When the Orange City woman checked her jewelry box, she reportedly discovered that multiple rings were missing, including a diamond ring that belonged to her grandmother. VCSO stated that the total value of the stolen jewelry was approximately $6,270.<\/p>\n
After the Orange City woman confronted Davis about the jewelry thefts and contacted the fianc\u00e9e regarding the incident, she managed to get some of her belongings back. In addition, both women ended their relationships with Davis, and they reportedly began cooperating with each other and with investigators.<\/p>\n
According to VCSO, Davis allegedly used two aliases \u2013 \u201cJoe Brown\u201d and \u201cMarcus Brown\u201d \u2013 while he was in relationships with the Orange City girlfriend and Orlando fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

The fianc\u00e9e told law enforcement that Davis had \u201cfooled her,\u201d adding that he \u201ceven (took) her to the Orange City girlfriend\u2019s house while she was at work\u201d while \u201cclaiming the house was his.\u201d <\/p>\n
Davis then allegedly asked the fianc\u00e9e to \u201cmove in with him.\u201d When the fianc\u00e9e began packing up her belongings, she reportedly noticed that multiple items, including a laptop and jewelry, were missing after Davis \u201cmoved out and disappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office said that both women met Davis on the dating app \u201cOKCupid\u201d in 2015 and 2016. While Davis allegedly never provided his real name, the fianc\u00e9e recalled the name of a niece that Davis had in North Carolina, and this helped detectives locate Davis\u2019 sister. <\/p>\n
Davis was then identified as the suspect in this case.<\/p>\n
A criminal history search of Davis revealed that he was previously convicted of felony charges in Oregon and North Carolina, including possession of fictitious ID, filing a false police report, domestic assault, and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. \u00a0He also had an active warrant out of Oregon in connection with a hit-and-run crash. <\/p>\n
Earlier this week, in an update on social media, VCSO stated that investigators received a tip that helped detectives locate Davis in Pinellas County. Davis was reportedly living there with another woman who \u201chad no idea of his true identity,\u201d and he was using the alias of \u201cMark Brown.\u201d<\/p>\n
Davis was placed under arrest and booked into Volusia County Jail on Friday, March 13, 2026, where he remains in custody without bond. He is being charged with aggravated stalking and grand theft (over $5,000 but less than $10,000).<\/p>\n
