The Card picked up a ranked win over No. 21 Washington on Saturday to highlight the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Spring Break Slugfest \/\/ Stanford is back home after a seven-game road trip over spring break, where the bats caught fire.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardinal went 5-2 on the trip, scoring 66 runs. The scoring outburst averaged out at 9.43 per game, up from 6.52 in the previous 23 games.<br \/>\nStanford entered the trip with 23 home runs in 23 games, and hit 13 home runs on the road trip.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/taryn-kern\" title=\"Taryn Kern\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taryn Kern<\/a> led the team with four home runs in the span.<\/p>\n<p>The Card finished with a .395\/.484\/.668 slash line, a marked improvement from the team&#8217;s .326\/.403\/.545 line entering the trip.<br \/>\nSix members of the Card hit better than .400 on the trip, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/emily-jones\" title=\"Emily Jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Jones<\/a> (.591) and Kern (.524) eclipsing the .500 mark.<br \/>\nThe trio of Kern, Jones and <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/kyra-chan\" title=\"Kyra Chan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyra Chan<\/a> combined to go 35-for-66 at the top of the Cardinal lineup, scoring 36 runs in the seven games.<\/p>\n<p>Taryn Torching \/\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/taryn-kern\" title=\"Taryn Kern\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taryn Kern<\/a> has been on a tear to start the season, doing it all for the Card in the leadoff spot.<\/p>\n<p>Kern has posted a .416\/.555\/.970 slash line through 34 games, good for a staggering 1.525 OPS, all of which leads the Cardinal.<br \/>\nThe leadoff hitter leads the team in runs scored with 47, as well as RBI with 34 and is tied for the lead in doubles with 11.<br \/>\nThe senior earned the first ACC Player of the Week award of the season for her efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Record-Breaking Senior \/\/ Kern is on pace to re-write a number of Stanford softball record books in her senior season.<\/p>\n<p>Kern&#8217;s team-leading 13 home runs this season are the eighth-most in a season in program history, and her 39 career home runs are tied for fourth-best.<br \/>\nOne more home run by the San Jose native would make her just the fourth Stanford player ever with 40 or more home runs.<br \/>\nKern sits just 15 walks away from the program&#8217;s career record, set by <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/maddy-coon\" title=\"Maddy Coon\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maddy Coon<\/a> in 2009.<br \/>\nHer .970 slugging percentage this season would be a single-season program record, and her career .716 would be the second-best in program history.<\/p>\n<p>The Last Dance \/\/ Kern and <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/kyra-chan\" title=\"Kyra Chan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyra Chan<\/a> have both picked it up at the plate in their senior seasons, driving the Cardinal offense.<\/p>\n<p>Kern&#8217;s .416 batting average is up from .348 last season, while Chan&#8217;s .406 clip is up from .398 last season.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping up With Kyra \/\/ Chan has been one of the Cardinal&#8217;s most consistend hitters, doing a bit of everything for Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>Chan is slashing .406\/.480\/.698 for a 1.178 OPS. All four marks are second-most on the team.<br \/>\nThe senior has picked up a hit in 28 of the Card&#8217;s 34 games, including 13 multi-hit games, leading the team in total hits with 43.<br \/>\nChan also sits second on the team in runs scored (32).<\/p>\n<p>Dominant Top of the Lineup Card \/\/ Kern, <a href=\"https:\/\/gostanford.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/player\/emily-jones\" title=\"Emily Jones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Jones<\/a> and Chan have been a mainstay at the top of the Cardinal lineup, and have been massive contributors to the team&#8217;s run production.<\/p>\n<p>The trio is hitting a combined 121-for-303 for a .399 clip, scoring 109 of the team&#8217;s 234 runs on the season.<br \/>\nDespite being atop the order, the trio has still driven in 75 runs on the year.<br \/>\nThe three seniors are the top three on the team in batting average and runs scored.<br \/>\nThe top of the lineup has set the middle of the order up for success behind them, drawing 48 walks to 31 strikeouts.<br \/>\nOnce on the bases, the three players are a perfect 14-14 in steal attempts.<\/p>\n<p>No Sophomore Slump \/\/ Prystajko has made a significant jump in her second season on The Farm, seeing marked improvement across nearly every stat. Entering the week, she&#8217;s pitched almost the same number of innings in 2026 (97.0) as she did in 2025 \u2013 96.2 IP.<\/p>\n<p>After entering 2026 with a single-game best of eight strikeouts, the sophomore has reached that mark seven times in 2026.<br \/>\nIn 2025, Prystajko struck out 5.4 batters per seven innings. In 2026, that rate is nearly double at 10.5.<br \/>\nPrystajko has nearly doubled her strikeout total from last season, striking out 146 in 2026, up from last season&#8217;s 74.<br \/>\nLast season, Prystajko posted a 5.00 ERA in 96.2 IP. The left-handed hurler currently owns a 2.96 ERA in 2026.<br \/>\n2025 batters hit .249 off In 2026, opposing hitters are having siginifcantly less success at .194.<br \/>\nPrystajko has cut down her number of free passes, only issuing 35 walks and hitting 19 batters.
