It will be west of Love’s Truck Stop, along Magnolia Drive.

Owners Luke Crawford, John Guarde and Joe Nix told the board the business could be open by fall.

The truck wash would provide washing services for trucks and trailers up to 75 feet long. There would be two bays, one manual and one automatic, and it would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There would be staffed hours and a payment kiosk for times when staff is not present.

With 12 spaces for queued trucks, the development is expected to have little impact on traffic in the area. Trucks would enter from the south side of the wash and exit onto Loves Drive once finished.

Village President Dick Samples said the goal for the business would be around 50 trucks a day.

He said he is excited to see the business open.

“This is another business within the village,” Samples said. “It couldn’t find a better home than near Love’s. It’s an added service that is needed and I think it’ll fit in well there.”

Attorney Rob Cross also presented a draft of a new ordinance that would increase two fees for the village according to state statute, as well as establishing or raising other fees for services provided by South Jacksonville Police Department.

The ordinance, which has not gone through the village board’s approval process, would increase the sex offender and sexual predator registration fee to $100 for initial registration and $100 for annual registration renewal.

The ordinance also would increase the violent offender against youth registration fee. The ordinance requires $20 for initial registration and $10 for annual registration renewal.

Both fees are set by state statute.

The ordinance also would establish a fingerprinting fee of $50 for those who need to be fingerprinted, including those seeking a job.

Sgt. Brian Wilson said the department currently doesn’t charge for the service, but other places do.

The ordinance also would establish a $50 fee for the department to deliver documents and when an officer assists with a vehicle lockout.

There also is a $50 fee for assistance with lockouts at Labor Drive; however, it was recommended to remove that fee until representatives from the village are able to meet with Labor Drive representatives.

Wilson said the department has a master key for the apartments on Labor Drive so they can assist with lockouts after hours.

The ordinance still has to go through the approval process and be voted on by the board before the fees go into effect.

South Jacksonville’s village board has approved a site plan for a two-bay truck wash near Love’s Travel Stop. …

[8
116,118,117,115,278
0":"post-220180","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-jacksonville","8":"tag-jacksonville","9":"tag-jacksonville-headlines","10":"tag-jacksonville-news","11":"tag-news","12":"tag-top-stories
["GET
