CARROLLWOOD \u2014 The old Boston Market at 16215 N. Dale Mabry Highway recently began renovations and will soon become a Cook Out, a popular North Carolina-based fast food burger chain that is expanding nationwide by acquiring shuttered Boston Market locations.<\/p>\n
Another former Boston Market, at 9595 Fourth St. N. in St. Petersburg, is also being converted. In Temple Terrace, at 5501 E. Fowler Ave., the first Florida location should open soon.<\/p>\n
No timeline for renovation completion or opening was available at time of publication.<\/p>\n
Cook Out purchased the Carrollwood property for $2.5 million, the Temple Terrace property for $3.5 million and the St. Petersburg property for $2.6 million.<\/p>\n
Cook Out was founded in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 1989 by Morris Reaves, who remains the owner. His son, Jeremy, is CEO. The chain now has more than 300 locations, mainly in the Southeast but as far north as Maryland and as far west as Mississippi. It is known for its chargrilled hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and variety of shakes.<\/p>\n
The restaurants are known for the “Cook Out Tray,” which can be mixed and matched with available items, and for more than 40 milkshake flavors. Cook Out is also a late-night dining option, with some locations open until 3 a.m.<\/p>\n
Boston Market once had more than 1,200 locations in 28 states and Puerto Rico but as of 2024 had dwindled to just 16 amid legal troubles including unpaid rents and wages and a string of lawsuits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CARROLLWOOD \u2014 The old Boston Market at 16215 N.
