APOPKA, Fla. \u2014 Early voting started Monday in Apopka\u2019s runoff race for mayor.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Voters will decide between Apopka Commissioner Nick Nesta and Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore to replace former Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson.<\/p>\n
Apopka residents\u00a0will have through Sunday, April 12 to\u00a0take advantage of early voting\u00a0in the runoff election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The early voting comes less than a month following the March 10\u00a0mayoral race headed into a runoff because no candidate crossed the 50%-plus-one vote threshold<\/p>\n

The final ballot count on March 10\u00a0showed Nesta leading with more than 3,300 votes, or 41% of the vote.<\/p>\n
Moore ended the night with just over 2,500 votes, or 31% of the vote.<\/p>\n
Both candidates have shared a variety of priorities for the growing city of Apopka.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Moore has expressed her goals of controlling growth by making improvements to the city\u2019s infrastructure and water and revitalizing the downtown core.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Nesta has been vocal about wanting to reduce utility rates for residents.<\/p>\n
Now, it\u2019s up to the voters to decide who they think is a better fit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Orange County Supervisor of Elections Karen Castor Dentel encouraged residents to cast their ballots by voting early, by mail or on Election Day, for what she calls a \u201cmeaningful moment for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apopkans can vote early all week long, either from the Apopka Community Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or from the Supervisor of Elections office on West Kaley Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Anyone who is eligible to vote in Apopka can do so early at either location.<\/p>\n
