Get your dancin\u2019 shoes on \u2013 the 17th Annual St. Petersburg Jazz Festival is back this week, taking over the Warehouse Arts District for five straight days of concerts and events. The festival runs Tuesday, April 7 through Saturday, April 11, with seven total concerts taking place over the course of four different nights.<\/p>\n

All shows are being performed under the stars at the Rosie Cohen Stage at the ArtsXchange, located within the Warehouse Arts District at 515 22nd Street South, creating a can\u2019t-miss experience at one of St. Pete\u2019s premier outdoor venues. Advance tickets are available here<\/a>, running at $25 for single-day admission or $65 for all four nights of shows.<\/p>\n

The annual extravaganza is one of the city\u2019s best performing arts festivals, and this year\u2019s rendition, presented by the Warehouse Arts District Association, is doubling down on the excitement by hosting two concerts on three out of four nights. The lineup is absolutely stacked, featuring an incredible variety of award-winning singers, musicians, bands and orchestras.<\/p>\n

The beauty of jazz is its variety, and the St. Petersburg Jazz Festival lives up to that standard (pun intended). Guests will be transported from a spring night in St. Pete to the streets of 1930s Paris, the jazz clubs of Havana, the stages of the Alps, and everywhere in between.<\/p>\n

In addition to the four nights of concerts, there are also two free educational workshops being held at St. Petersburg College: Alexis Cole Jazz Vocal Workshop (SPC in HS 109) on Tuesday at 11 am; and Johnbern Thomas Haitian Rhythms Workshop (SPC in HS 117) on Thursday at 12:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, April 8: Alexis Cole & Helios Jazz Orchestra

Thursday, April 9: Johnbern Thomas Quintet & Randy Bordon Trio

Opening Act \u2013 Randy Bordon Trio: Cuban-born bassist and producer Randy Bordon leads an eclectic trio that serves as a vibrant bridge between Havana and Florida\u2019s jazz scene. Known for his soulful, percussive approach to the upright bass, Bordon fuses Afro-Cuban grooves with modern jazz and funk sensibilities. Members include Pablo Arencibia (keyboards), Diego Azcuy (drum set & percussion), and Randy Bordon (double bass).<\/p>\n

Johnbern Thomas Quintet: Hailing from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, drummer Johnbern Thomas is a vital force in the contemporary jazz scene. His quintet blends the complex rhythms of his Caribbean heritage with modern hard-bop sensibilities. Thomas is celebrated for his explosive energy and melodic approach to the drums, leading a group of virtuosic musicians through original compositions that are as emotionally resonant as they are technically profound.<\/p>\n

Friday, April 10: Markus Gottschlich Trio & Hot Club SRQ

Opening Act \u2013 Hot Club SRQ: Steeped in the \u201cJazz Manouche\u201d tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, Hot Club SRQ transports audiences to the bustling cafes of 1930s Paris. Led by the virtuosic violin of Keven Aland, this acoustic string ensemble delivers a high-energy mix of Gypsy Jazz, rumba flamenco, and bossa nova. Featuring Keven Aland (violin\/vocals), Jon McLaughlin (acoustic guitar), and Glenn Stevenson (double bass).<\/p>\n

Markus Gottschlich Trio: Austrian-born Steinway Artist and composer Markus Gottschlich brings a unique European perspective to the American jazz tradition. His trio is acclaimed for its intricate interplay and cinematic soundscapes, often drawing inspiration from Gottschlich\u2019s global travels and background in classical music. Saturday, April 11: Martin Bejerano\u2019s #CubanAmerican Trio with Dafnis Prieto & Downtown Trio Plus One
