A Tallahassee man has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison after prosecutors said he possessed “distribution” amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl and a stolen firearm while being prohibited from having a gun.<\/p>\n

Ramon Velazquez Rodas, 46, received the sentence in federal court after his conviction on charges of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Florida.<\/p>\n

Investigators executed a search warrant on Aug. 11, 2022, at a suspected drug house in Tallahassee, where Rodas was found, the release said. Officers recovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, a stolen handgun, about $2,900 in cash, and other items consistent with drug distribution.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Rodas was legally barred from possessing firearms because of multiple prior felony convictions, including burglary and drug-related offenses. The case was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.<\/p>\n
