Each quarterback had a couple decisions they have to learn from. There were good plays and some explosive plays later\u2014guys pushed the ball down the field.<\/p>\n
There were also situations where it didn’t matter who was playing quarterback…..we’ve got to be better in surrounding them to put them in better situations.<\/p>\n
Through the first nine days, we have a very competitive room….with talented guys. Kevin is continuing to grow in what he’s being asked to do….driving the ball with more confidence and what it needs to look like. Ashton has done a great job learning the offense, with some finer details that he can grow from and he’s done really well with the bulk of spring ball. I’m please with his progression and where he’s at.<\/p>\n
We’ll see as we go through spring practice where things stack up. We’ll have 15 practices. If we’re ready to make a decision, we will be willing to. If it stretches into fall camp, that’s something we’ll evaluate as continue to get closer.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s basically what I said before: the offensive line is still a work in progress, and a lot of young receivers out there are likely playing inconsistently. <\/p>\n
If we think about it, Mike Norvell naming a starter doesn\u2019t help in any way. The longer he allows this \u201cquarterback battle\u201d to keep going, the more he\u2019ll likely get out of both Kevin Sperry and Ashton Daniels. It sounds like both guys are making progress, but also have room to grow. <\/p>\n
Their continued play at practice will help the players determine who the starter should be by the time we \u00a0get into fall camp. I expect FSU to wait until fall to name a starter based on where everything is now, unless one of the two guys makes it undeniable that he\u2019s the guy.
