The downturn follows earlier signs of\u00a0weakening interest in\u00a0traditional excursion-based tourism, particularly in\u00a0cities such as\u00a0St. Petersburg, where demand for museum-focused travel has declined in\u00a0favor of\u00a0more flexible and experience-driven formats.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Russia\u2019s State Duma backed<\/a> a\u00a0proposal to\u00a0introduce a\u00a0special fee on\u00a0citizens traveling abroad. Lawmaker Sangadzhi Tarbayev said the measure is\u00a0intended to\u00a0redirect spending into the domestic tourism sector, arguing that money spent overseas could instead support the local economy and create jobs.<\/p>\n
