TEMPLE TERRACE \u2014 After years of watching as nearby Winn-Dixie grocery stores were renovated into Aldi grocery stores, an unusual thing happened on Temple Terrace Highway last month.<\/p>\n
The Winn-Dixie there was renovated into \u2026 an improved and updated Winn-Dixie.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s part of a comeback for Winn-Dixie in Florida, after Southeastern Grocers announced late last year it was rebranding as The Winn-Dixie Co. in 2026. The store at 8775 Temple Terrace Highway is one of many scheduled for remodeling as part of a Florida consolidation after years of having hundreds of stores across the southeast.<\/p>\n
After The Winn-Dixie Co. completes a combination of acquisitions and divestitures, it will have roughly 130 grocery stores in Florida, with 140 freestanding or adjacent liquor stores.<\/p>\n
On March 28, Winn-Dixie reintroduced itself to the community with a ribbon-cutting showing a newly remodeled grocery and liquor store featuring:<\/p>\n
\u2022 An expanded authentic Hispanic offerings across every department, including frozen and dairy products, produce staples like roots, tropical fruits, plantains and fresh cilantro; deli favorites including ropa vieja, sweet plantains and cold cuts, bakery specialties such as tres leches cake and Cuban and Puerto Rican rolls; meat favorites like flap meat, skirt steak and picanha; and whole snapper and corvina in seafood.<\/p>\n
\u2022 An expanded seafood department including a variety of fresh seafood on ice and \u201cSeafood Made Easy,\u201d where customers can choose the type of seafood, vegetables and seasoning to be packaged together for easy preparation at home.<\/p>\n
\u2022 An enhanced deli that includes easy meal solutions, including daily self-serve hot foods, freshly prepared sandwiches, salads and rotisserie chicken, popcorn chicken and a wing bar as part of an emphasis on its Lip Lickin\u2019 Chicken brand.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Refreshed departments across the store, as well as an updated design with a new fa\u00e7ade, fresh color palette and contemporary signage honoring Winn-Dixie\u2019s century-long legacy.<\/p>\n
\u2022 A renewed Winn-Dixie Beer, Wine & Spirits store with a wide selection of offerings, adjacent to the grocery store.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Amazon Returns for a quick, hassle-free way to return packages while shopping.<\/p>\n
According to the company, the new design and offerings were determined by feedback from customers and associates, and the refreshed store \u201cintroduces a more localized format with expanded offerings, quality products and thoughtful enhancements inspired by what matters most to the Temple Terrace community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included two $1,000 check presentations to Jennings Middle School and the Temple Terrace Police Department.<\/p>\n
The first 100 customers in line when the doors opened at 8 a.m. received a Winn-Dixie mystery gift card valued between $10 and $100.
