GLAD THEY’RE OKAY. 517 IMPACT WEATHER AGAIN TODAY. ERIC YOU’VE BEEN SAYING IT’S GOING TO KIND OF BE THIS IS THE STORY ALL WEEK, RIGHT? YEAH. NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WE KEEP WITH THIS VERY WET KIND OF UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN, WHICH IS, BY THE WAY, JUST WHAT WE NEED. OKAY, NOT EVERYBODY’S GETTING THE RAINFALL. THAT’S ACTUALLY QUITE THE PROBLEM. WE LOOK OVER TOWARD NEW SMYRNA BEACH ON THE TOWER CAM CLOUDS, EVEN SOME RAIN, AND IT’S GOING TO BE THAT VOLUSIA BREVARD CORRIDOR THAT AGAIN TODAY HAS THAT ELEVATED RISK FOR FLOODING. WE HAVEN’T SEEN ANY, WHICH IS GOOD NEWS. BUT THE RAINS ARE JUST CONTINUING TO PILE UP IN THESE AREAS. FLOOD WATCH STILL IN EFFECT FOR VOLUSIA AND BREVARD COUNTY. THAT GOES THROUGH TONIGHT. AND WIND ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT AGAIN TODAY BECAUSE OF THE GUSTY BREEZE. AND I KNOW THAT WITH WINDS IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING. BUT THERE ARE GALE WARNINGS OFFSHORE. OKAY, SO HERE’S THE FUTURE CAST FOR TODAY. WE’RE GOING TO START AT 7:00 WHERE WE’LL BE TRACKING A NICE BREEZE AND COASTAL SHOWERS. THAT’S ALREADY WHAT I’M WATCHING. BUT NOTICE THROUGH TEN, 11, 12:00 THAT COVERAGE STARTS TO INCREASE AND THE WINDS 20, 30 MILES AN HOUR, GUSTING UP TO ABOUT 35. THAT CONTINUES THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THEN AROUND DINNER TIME, COVERAGE DROPS JUST A LITTLE BIT. AND THEN LATE TONIGHT WE START TO PICK UP EVEN MORE RAIN. IT’S GOING TO BE A RAINY NIGHT. BUT HERE’S THE PROBLEM. YOU FAST FORWARD FUTURECAST INTO TOMORROW MORNING. MEAGHAN MACKEY I’M TALKING TO YOU AS WELL. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A BUSY ONE. LOOKS LIKE WIDESPREAD RAINS FOR OUR THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTE. SO JUST PUT THAT IN THE BACK OF YOUR MIND. WANTED TO GIVE YOU THE FIRST WARNING ON THAT. NOW LOOKING AT RAINFALL WE ARE STILL RUNNING IN THAT TWO THREE INCH RANGE FOR OUR COASTAL COMMUNITIES WITH SOME AREAS THAT COULD SEE HIGHER. BUT OF COURSE, THE FURTHER WEST YOU LIVE, THE RAIN NUMBERS DROP OFF PRETTY QUICKLY. AT THIS HOUR, IT’S CLOUDY AND ORLANDO. BOTH THE TOURIST DISTRICT AND DOWNTOWN, AND THE SHORELINE FOR VOLUSIA AND BREVARD SHOWING SOME RAIN HAVING FALLEN. FIRST WARNING. LIVE RADAR SHOWING SHOWERS COMING INTO FLAGLER COMING INTO VOLUSIA COUNTY THROUGH THE METRO. THIS BAND OF RAIN IS WORKING OVER TO THE EAST SIDE, WATERFORD LAKES, BACK OVER TOWARD DOWNTOWN ORLANDO SHORTLY. PLENTY OF RAIN HERE IN BREVARD FROM BOTH NORTH BREVARD TO SOUTH BREVARD, BUT THE OVERALL COVERAGE IS FAIRLY SUBDUED. WE’LL CALL IT ABOUT A 30% COVERAGE THROUGH 9 A.M., BUT WATCH THAT RAIN COVERAGE INCREASE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND THEN AGAIN INTO TONIGHT. ALL RIGHT. IF YOU’RE HANGING OUT OVER AT THE BEACHES, THIS IS NOT THE DAY OR DAYS TO GO INTO THE WATER. WATCHING SEES JUST MASSIVE. IT’S A STORM SYSTEM THAT’S IN THE AREA. SO IT MAKES SENSE. BUT THE SEAS AND SURF START TO CALM A LITTLE BIT. AND WHILE IT WILL STILL BE ELEVATED FOR SATURDAY WITH OUR SUN SHINING, I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE AWARE THAT WE’VE GOT ROUGH SURF AND RIP CURRENTS RIGHT THROUGH THE WEEKEND, SO RAIN CHANCES DROP OFF, TEMPERATURES START TO CLIMB AND WILL MAKE A GREAT WEEKEND FORECAST BACK INTO THE 80S FOR OUR SUNDAY. AND THEN NEX

Impact Weather: Rain, strong winds continue today in parts of Central Florida

   Updated: 6:46 AM EDT Apr 8, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Rain is in the forecast all week for Central Florida. And while we need it after several extremely dry months, First Warning Weather meteorologists warn it might be too much and could lead to flooding.
