<\/p>\n FOLLOW OHIO SOFTBALL:\u00a0Facebook<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n OXFORD, Ohio \u2013\u00a0The Ohio softball team (26-14,\u00a09-6\u00a0MAC)\u00a0returned to action Wednesday\u00a0afternoon (April 8), splitting a doubleheader\u00a0with\u00a0Miami (27-12,\u00a09-6\u00a0MAC)\u00a0in the ‘Battle of the Bricks’.\u00a0The Bobcats defeated the RedHawks in the first game of the afternoon, 13-8, before dropping game two, 8-5.\u00a0With yesterday’s win, the Bobcats earned the series win over Miami for the second-straight season. Senior Shelby Westler<\/a> finished the doubleheader with five hits, three doubles, a grand slam and 12 RBI to lead Ohio at the plate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n GAME ONE: Ohio\u00a013, Miami\u00a08\u00a0 At\u00a0the plate,\u00a0senior\u00a0Shelby Westler<\/a>\u00a0(Marion, Ohio)\u00a0led the Bobcats,\u00a0going 3-for-5 with nine RBI\u00a0and one run scored\u00a0and a grand slam.\u00a0Senior\u00a0Belle Hummel<\/a>\u00a0(Cincinnati, Ohio)\u00a0went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored,\u00a0while\u00a0junior\u00a0Brenna Farmer<\/a>\u00a0(Mt. Blanchard, Ohio)\u00a0went\u00a01-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored.\u00a0Junior\u00a0Kylie Gorsuch<\/a>\u00a0(North Canton, Ohio)\u00a0finished with two hits, while sophomore\u00a0Jordyn Wycuff<\/a>\u00a0(Pataskala, Ohio)\u00a0and\u00a0junior\u00a0Izzie Wilson<\/a>\u00a0(Delaware, Ohio) each had one hit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n In the circle,\u00a0junior Mikie Lieving<\/a> (New Haven, W. Va.) got the start, pitching\u00a0two\u00a0innings, allowing\u00a0five\u00a0runs, four earned\u00a0on\u00a0seven\u00a0hits, walked\u00a0one\u00a0and struck out\u00a0two.\u00a0Senior Keegan Moore<\/a> (South Point, Ohio)\u00a0earned\u00a0her\u00a0seventh\u00a0win of the season,\u00a0allowing three runs on two hits with three strikeouts in four innings pitched.\u00a0Graduate student Skipp Miller<\/a> (Bradford, Ohio)\u00a0pitched the final inning,\u00a0allowing one hit,\u00a0walked one and struck out one.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first, loading the bases before Westler launched a grand slam to give the Bobcats a 4-0 advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n The RedHawks\u00a0got on the board\u00a0in\u00a0the bottom of the second\u00a0with one run to cut into the deficit.\u00a0Miami then took the lead in the bottom of the third, plating five runs on five hits to go ahead, 6-4.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Ohio\u00a0responded\u00a0in\u00a0the top of the fourth.\u00a0With\u00a0three Bobcats on base, Westler\u00a0delivered a\u00a0double down the line, driving\u00a0in three runs\u00a0for the 7-6 advantage. The RedHawks\u00a0answered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to even the score, 7-7.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The score\u00a0remained tied\u00a0through the top of the sixth\u00a0before Miami broke the tie with a run in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-7 lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ohio loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with a hit and two walks.\u00a0A fielding error\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0walk allowed the Bobcats to\u00a0regain the lead, 9-8.\u00a0Farmer\u00a0followed with\u00a0a two-RBI single to left\u00a0before Westler\u00a0added a\u00a0two-RBI single to\u00a0extend the lead, 13-8.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Ohio defense shut down Miami in the bottom of the seventh,\u00a0with Miller\u00a0striking out the final batter to secure the 13-8 victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n GAME TWO:\u00a0Miami\u00a08,\u00a0Ohio\u00a05\u00a0 At the plate,\u00a0Westler\u00a0went 2-for-4 and recorded three RBI.\u00a0Hummel\u00a0went 2-for-4 and scored two runs.\u00a0Farmer\u00a0finished with one run on two hits, while sophomore Alexis Book<\/a> (Chillicothe, Ohio)\u00a0ended with one run on one hit.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the circle,\u00a0Miller got the start, pitched\u00a0six\u00a0innings, allowing\u00a0eight\u00a0runs\u00a0on\u00a0eight\u00a0hits, walked\u00a0two\u00a0and struck out\u00a0six.\u00a0<\/p>\n Farmer got on base\u00a0in the top of the first\u00a0with a single to right field, then raced home off a double from Westler\u00a0for Ohio’s first run of the game and the early 1-0 lead.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Miami answered\u00a0in\u00a0the bottom\u00a0of the first, hitting a three-run home run\u00a0for the 3-1 advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n Hummel opened the third with a single to left. After\u00a0advancing to\u00a0third on a hit by pitch and a groundout, she raced home on an error to score. Senior Colleen Bare<\/a> (Pickerington, Ohio) followed with an RBI, tying the game at 3-3\u00a0<\/p>\n After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, the RedHawks\u00a0scored five in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-3 lead.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Bobcats would look to rally\u00a0in\u00a0the bottom of the seventh inning.\u00a0Book and Hummel opened\u00a0with two hits to get into scoring position.
