{"id":224575,"date":"2026-04-09T09:24:58","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T09:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/224575\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T09:24:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T09:24:58","slug":"rapper-lil-tjay-arrested-after-offset-shot-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/224575\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapper Lil Tjay arrested after Offset shot in Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">ATLANTA (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlantanewsfirst.com\/2026\/04\/07\/rapper-lil-tjay-arrested-after-former-migos-member-shot-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.atlantanewsfirst.com\/2026\/04\/07\/rapper-lil-tjay-arrested-after-former-migos-member-shot-florida\/\">ANF<\/a>\/Gray News) \u2014 Rapper Lil Tjay was arrested after former Migos rapper Offset was shot Monday night outside a casino in Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tione Merritt, known as Lil Tjay, is charged with disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was booked into the Broward County Jail, where his bond was set at $3,000.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Broward County Jail booking photo for Tione Merritt, or \u201cLil Tjay.&quot;\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/CGZNNWANRFA43I6RZAPHQFNFTU.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Broward County Jail booking photo for Tione Merritt, or \u201cLil Tjay.&#8221;(Broward County Sheriff&#8217;s Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Merritt was one of two people detained after Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, was shot at a valet area outside Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, according to the Seminole Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The second person was not charged and investigators are working to identify more suspects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Merritt\u2019s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, said her client was not involved in the shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting,\u201d she said. \u201cAny reporting to the contrary is false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Offset was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, where he is expected to recover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Offset was part of Migos, a popular Georgia-based hip-hop trio that also included Quavo and Takeoff. The group split after Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Ball, was shot and killed in Houston in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Offset married Cardi B in 2017, but she filed for divorce in 2024.
