By the early 1980s, many celebrated guitarists were singing the praises of this skinny kid from Austin with the mind-melting chops. Comparisons were made to such guitar heroes as Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix and when he joined the 1970s Austin fusion band Electromagnets.<\/p>\n<p>With the release of his highly anticipated 1986 solo debut album \u201cTones,\u201d the underground guitar legend finally emerged onto the scene fully formed. It landed him on the cover of Guitar Player magazine, which hailed the album as a \u201cmajestic debut,\u201d and earned him his first Grammy nomination for the song \u201cZap.\u201d With the release of his follow-up album, 1990\u2019s platinum-selling \u201cAh via Musicom,\u201d which contained the Grammy Award winning song \u201cCliffs of Dover,\u201d Johnson became a bona fide international guitar phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of more than four decades, Johnson has been traveling on a prolific odyssey. While these are not technically farewell shows, nor a reunion, if you know anything about Saigon Kick there is a statistically significant 74 to 78.4% chance this will never happen again.<\/p>\n<p>These two Florida appearances consist of a special hometown show at the Funky Biscuit on April 17, followed by an appearance at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre on Saturday, April 18.<\/p>\n<p>Phil and Jason represent half of the original Saigon Kick lineup, which in many cases is more original members than certain other legacy bands currently touring. It\u2019s different from how the UK band imagined it when they were teens in the late 1990s, crafting ethereal, at times cosmic bits of heart-forward rock music to little outside interest, playing shows to nearly empty rooms. In September of 2024, Murray and his Blood Brothers performed together at the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas. The crowd loved the performance, which was a magical set combining cover songs and originals. Since the beginning of 2025, this group of friends have showcased a blend of Murray&#8217;s unique charm with classic rock music.<\/p>\n<p>Murray the award-winning American actor, comedian, and writer has been part of the music scene on numerous occasions. Over the years, Murray has performed at events such as Eric Clapton\u2019s Crossroads Festival, John Prine &amp; The Steeldrivers at the Grand Ole Opry and Love Rocks NYC at The Beacon Theatre. During his years on \u201cSaturday Night Live,\u201d Murray portrayed Nick the Lounge Singer and entertained guests with songs like Brandy and most famously Star Wars.<\/p>\n<p>Zito and Castiglia are true \u201cBlood Brothers\u201d in life and in the music they have created collectively. Zito is a nine-time Blues Music Award Winner and Castiglia is a five-time BMA winner.
