MACON, Ga. (WGXA) \u2014 Middle Georgians will soon be able to catch flights directly from Macon to Baltimore, Maryland, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this summer<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Macon-Bibb County, starting June 9, Contour Airlines is reinstating non-stop services between Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) and the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), after shifting services from BWI <\/a>in February 2025. <\/p>\n

In addition, the airline will now offer flights from MCN to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Macon-Bibb County says the new route comes as “a direct response” to community demand for access to Florida’s beaches and cruise ports. <\/p>\n

This also comes as Spirit Airlines announced it would offer non-stop passenger flights from Macon to the Florida tourist destination in July 2025<\/a>, but later pulled out of the plans<\/a> to provide service at MCN in September. <\/p>\n

President of Contour Airlines Ben Muson said in a statement that the additional flight services are a “meaningful step” toward the company’s investment in Macon. <\/p>\n

\u201cContour Airlines is committed to growing alongside the communities we serve,\u201d said Munson. \u201cWe\u2019ve heard from travelers across Middle Georgia who have been asking for the return of Baltimore service, as well as new options to Florida. We\u2019re proud to deliver on both. These additions not only restore a valuable connection to Baltimore, but also open the door to one of the country\u2019s most popular leisure destinations. This is a meaningful step forward in our continued investment in Macon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flights to Baltimore will operate daily with a second flight added on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. While flights to Fort Lauderdale will operate four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Each flight will be on a Contour Airlines 30-seat passenger regional jet, with leather seating, extra leg room and free snacks and beverages for each passenger, according to the release. <\/p>\n

“If you want to tour the nation\u2019s capital or visit the sunny beaches of Florida or catch a cruise, you\u2019ll soon be able to do it all from here in Macon!\u201d said Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller in a statement. \u201cThe flights to our nation\u2019s capital from Macon have been very popular since they began, and I\u2019m glad Contour is continually listening to its passengers to provide the service that best fits their needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
