With Halloween just around the corner, FIU students are already embracing the spooky season. On Oct. 21st, the Halloween Cosplay Competition was held at GC Ballrooms.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Honors College<\/a>, GameHers FIU<\/a>, and the Disabled Student Union<\/a>, the event ran from 6 to 8 p.m. and brought together students from across campus to celebrate Halloween. From anime heroes to classic monsters, the costumes filled the ballroom with color, energy, and excitement.<\/p>\n

Participants who wanted to join the competition had one minute to walk the stage, show off their costumes, and perform in character. The audience cheered as students transformed into their favorite figures from pop culture. The winners of the night were Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion, Jotaro from JoJo\u2019s Bizarre Adventure, and Clark Kent, all of whom impressed the judges with their detailed costumes and accurate portrayals.<\/p>\n

But the competition was only part of the fun. The event also featured a sensory-friendly room designed for students who preferred a calmer environment, as well as a gaming corner where attendees could relax and play between performances. Free food and snacks kept everyone fueled through the evening, while a live DJ kept the energy high with music that had the crowd dancing and singing along.<\/p>\n

The ballroom was filled with creativity, from Princess Zelda and Jinx from Arcane to the timeless Dracula. Each costume reflected the individuality of its creator, turning the event into a celebration of self-expression and fandom.<\/p>\n

Events like this show that Halloween isn\u2019t just about candy and costumes. It\u2019s about community, inclusivity, and bringing imagination to life. As Oct. 31st approaches, the Cosplay Competition proves that FIU students know how to kick off the Halloween season in the most creative way possible.<\/p>\n
