The facility features four strip and paint hangers with 117,050 square feet of hanger floor space. <\/p>\n<p>                Jason Vorhees<\/p>\n<p>            jvorhees@macon.com<\/p>\n<p>The Middle Georgia Regional Airport is preparing to expand its offerings to travelers with flights to Fort Lauderdale, and bringing back nonstop service to Baltimore, according to a news release from Bibb County.<\/p>\n<p>The flights will be offered through Contour Airlines, which is expanding its footprint at the Macon airport.<\/p>\n<p>The airport was previously slated to offer flights to Fort Lauderdale through Spirit Airlines, the release said, but those plans were cancelled in September 2025 when the airline <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.13wmaz.com\/article\/news\/local\/spirit-airlines-announces-theyre-cancelling-plans-to-fly-out-of-macon\/93-54d95a74-12ae-4c70-b34d-2ac915fc0bcc\">filed for bankruptcy<\/a> for the second time that year.<\/p>\n<p>Contour previously operated flights from Macon to Baltimore\/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/wgxa.tv\/news\/local\/contour-airlines-shifts-macon-service-from-baltimore-to-dulles-enhancing-travel-options-visit-macon-macon-vacation-washington-cherry-blossom-airport-planes-aircraft-middle-georgia\">but shifted<\/a> the flights to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The release said the routes were introduced as a response to demand from the community for more travel options.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to see Contour Airlines continue to invest in Macon with the addition of Fort Lauderdale service,\u201d said Heather Hillstrom Lowe, deputy director of aviation with Macon-Bibb County. \u201cThe updated schedule, including the return to Baltimore, is designed to optimize aircraft utilization and support this expansion \u2014 ultimately strengthening the overall network available to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flights to Baltimore will run daily, with a second flight scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Flights to Fort Lauderdale will operate four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Guests turn to take a glance at a recently painted Delta Air Lines 757 during a grand opening&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":225197,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[249,251,250],"class_list":["post-225196","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale-headlines","tag-fort-lauderdale-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/225196","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=225196"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/225196\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/225197"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=225196"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=225196"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=225196"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
