Another Democratic candidate has filed to run for Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District.
Brice Barnes has officially entered the race. She is a political consultant who worked on the Biden for President National Finance Committee in 2020. She\u2019s a Tallahassee resident and a mom of three.<\/p>\n
In an interview with WFSU, she said she\u2019s running with the goal of addressing what she calls \u201cthe chaos in Washington\u201d that she thinks is impacting the pocketbooks of Panhandle residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust this week I was at a sports practice, the conversation is always the same, that groceries are too high, gas prices are too high, and the cost of health care is out of control,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Three Democratic candidates have filed for the race: Yen Bailey, Amanda Green and Nicholas Zateslo. The winner of a Democratic primary will face an uphill race in the Republican favored district. It\u2019s currently held by Republican Congressman Neal Dunn who won by over 20 points in 2024.<\/p>\n
Barnes said she is not running on a party line, but running to build a broad coalition focused on issues facing district residents<\/p>\n
\u201cI think folks are fed up with the chaos and looking for somebody that can bring real solutions to them, and I think I’ve got the experience to be able to bring rural solutions and talk to voters and families across this district and go to work for them every single day,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
While the Democratic primary may seem crowded, the Republican field is even larger.
