Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clearwater<\/a>). Everything went their way against the St. Petersburg Green Devils<\/a> on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Green Devils: they’ve now won four in a row.<\/p>\n Morgan Maske<\/a> made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That’s the most RBI she has posted since back in March.<\/p>\n In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Rymsza<\/a>, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bevin Stegura<\/a>, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.<\/p>\n Clearwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That’s the best OBP they’ve posted all season.<\/p>\n Clearwater’s record is now 7-12. As for St. Petersburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.<\/p>\n Coming up, Clearwater will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Petersburg, they will challenge Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors’ pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Green Devils’ hitters will have their work cut out for them.<\/p>\n
