TALLAHASSEE, Fla. |\u00a0Despite picking up seven hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Florida A&M, Alabama State was unable to push across more runs, as the Hornets fell to the Rattlers 7-3 Friday.<\/p>\n

Kaitlyn Hill<\/a> (1-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (14-27). Kohana Pousson<\/a> was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 4.1 innings, surrendering three runs, two earned, on three hits, walking one and striking out three.<\/p>\n

In the batter’s box, Jaibriel Terrell<\/a> paced the Hornets, going 2-for-3 on the day with a triple and an RBI. Alana Scott<\/a> also had a noteworthy day at the dish, going 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI. Meshayla Pettaway<\/a> also helped out for Alabama State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.<\/p>\n

HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n

The Hornets were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Alabama State scratched across a run off Z. Hughes when Terrell tripled in JaNiyah Boykin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Hornets kept the deficit at 4-1 before closing the gap further in the fifth. Pettaway came across to score the lone run of the inning for Alabama State, which tightened the Rattlers lead to 4-2.<\/p>\n

Florida A&M built their lead to 7-2 before the Alabama State offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 7-3 in the seventh. The Hornets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of . The ballgame ended with that seventh-inning rally falling short.<\/p>\n
