Piper<\/a> and Fort Lauderdale<\/a> are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bengals will take on the Flying L’s at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Piper has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday’s game will give them a chance to turn things around.<\/p>\n Piper is headed into Tuesday’s contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Wednesday. They came up short against Westminster Academy, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that’s the biggest defeat the Bengals have suffered since February 18th.<\/p>\n Ruddy Santiago<\/a> was cooking despite his team’s loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Rodriguez<\/a>, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Flanagan 3-2.<\/p>\n Finn O’Brien<\/a> was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter’s box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.<\/p>\n In other pitching news, Dave Lopez<\/a> looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Fort Lauderdale: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.<\/p>\n O’Brien wasn’t the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake DelNegri<\/a>, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.<\/p>\n Fort Lauderdale’s record is now 10-8. As for Piper, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11-1.<\/p>\n Piper couldn’t quite get it done against Fort Lauderdale when the teams last played back in February as they fell 11-7. Can the Bengals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself?
