East Ridge extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 16-2. They never let the Cape Coral Seahawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Simmone Hymiller tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn’t given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Veronica Peterson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she’s played. Another player making a difference was Grayson DeMartino, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

East Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in five consecutive contests.

As for Cape Coral, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

On Cape Coral’s side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Slater, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Slater’s first of the season.

Coming up, East Ridge will take on Westminster Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Cape Coral, they will be taking part in a tournament against Doral Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
