Still, some campaigns have already made headlines with impressive fundraising in the early months of the season, and in some cases, within just hours of launching.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here are the fundraising numbers that have already caught our attention and sparked interest among political insiders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sarasota starter<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although these aren\u2019t official quarterly reports, one candidate who entered the race on April 1 outperformed the rest and changed what many expected just a month ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sydney Gruters\u00a0was not the person most people expected from her family to run for retiring U.S. Rep.\u00a0Vern Buchanan\u2019s\u00a0seat. However, as the wife of Republican National Committee Chair\u00a0Joe Gruters,\u00a0she quickly generated excitement about her possible campaign and secured support from President\u00a0Donald Trump. After announcing her run, she raised\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/788727-sydney-gruters-raises-100k-in-first-5-hours-on-campaign-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">over $100,000<\/a>\u00a0in just the first five hours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsara.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-772116 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/FL-Legislators-Digital-Banners-728x90_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSouthwest Florida families want conservative leadership that understands the pressure they\u2019re under, will fight rising costs, protect affordability, and go to Washington focused on solving problems, not making them worse,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As other Republicans released their first-quarter reports, it became clear that Gruters outpaced the entire GOP field in less than a day. Meanwhile, one of the few establishment figures who could have matched her, Manatee GOP\u2019s\u00a0Mark Flanagan, announced he would not run for the open seat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Panhandle preparation<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, Democrat Brice Barnes made waves\u00a0by raising over $100,000 in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/790162-brice-barnes-raises-six-figures-in-first-day-as-candidate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">first 24 hours<\/a> after launching her campaign for Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019m overjoyed by the incredible response to our campaign launch and the overwhelming grassroots support we\u2019ve received just in the past day,\u201d Barnes said. \u201cThe number of people that are already supporting this campaign just goes to show that North Florida families are ready for a representative who understands their concerns and will fight for them in Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottsingerusa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-785083 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Unknown-scaled-e1773409047204.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other Democrats, including\u00a0Amanda Marie Green \u2014 who is supported by former U.S. Rep.\u00a0Allen Boyd \u2014 have yet to announce their fundraising totals. Green,\u00a0Yen Bailey,\u00a0and\u00a0Nick Zatalso\u00a0had already raised six-figure sums before U.S. Rep.\u00a0Neal Dunn announced his retirement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This shows a large amount of money building up for Democrats in a district currently held by Republicans, and Barnes\u2019s success hints at a desire for change. While major analysts have not predicted a party switch in Florida\u2019s 2nd Congressional District, several Democratic candidates now have strong fundraising totals. Could this district become a battleground in what might be a tough Midterm for Republicans?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two-fer in Tampa Bay<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Tampa Bay, both Democratic candidates have shown they will bring significant resources to challenge U.S. Rep.\u00a0Anna Paulina Luna. Earle Ford\u00a0and\u00a0Leela Gray\u00a0each raised more than half a million dollars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ford entered the race in mid-December and reported\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/782999-earle-ford-hits-500k-raised-in-quest-to-challenge-anna-paulina-luna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">over $593,000<\/a> in total contributions by the end of March, mostly from more than 21,000 individual donors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo see more than 16,000 individuals step up and invest in this campaign is incredibly humbling,\u201d Ford said. \u201cIt tells me that people across this District are ready for leadership that listens, shows up, and fights to do the right thing for them every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leela Gray\u00a0reported raising over $561,000 in the first quarter, i<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/788669-leela-gray-hauls-561k-within-months-of-challenging-anna-paulina-luna-for-cd-13\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">includding<\/a> more than $150,000 in the first 48 hours after launching her campaign in February.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am grateful for the support that has come pouring in in these early days, and I\u2019m excited for our prospects,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is a campaign about service over self.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Will this be enough to defeat Luna, who has been the top Florida target for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee every cycle since she entered Congress? It\u2019s hard to say. Luna ended last year with over $1 million and has not yet released her first-quarter totals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Still, having $1 million raised by Democrats before the nomination shows real momentum and confidence that the GOP congresswoman could face a strong challenge from the left this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Big spender<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In one Southwest Florida race, expense reports have set the tone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chris Collins, a former New York Congressman, reported\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/789608-chris-collins-puts-more-than-900k-toward-cd-19-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">over $900,000<\/a>\u00a0in self-financing for his campaign in Florida\u2019s 19th Congressional District. He is not the only Republican investing heavily to succeed U.S. Rep.\u00a0Byron Donalds,\u00a0but Collins spent most of his funds in the first quarter, including nearly $600,000 on expenses such as a Super Bowl television ad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019m ready to get back in the ring for our President to deliver his agenda for the families of Southwest Florida and future generations,\u201d the Marco Island Republican declared in the ad to thousands of football fans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Collins is showing his commitment by spending more than three times a Congressman\u2019s annual salary to start his campaign. Congressional races in Southwest Florida are often expensive, and self-financed candidates are common. Soon, we\u2019ll see how much other wealthy candidates are willing to spend for this seat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The stage is set for an expensive race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Seven-figure splash<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How ready are Republicans to flip a Democratic seat? With redistricting still ahead,\u00a0Scott Singer\u2019s\u00a0first-quarter filings show he has the resources for a strong campaign to challenge U.S. Rep.\u00a0Jared Moskowitz, a Parkland Democrat targeted by the National Republican Congressional Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Boca Raton Republican reported\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/789351-we-are-in-the-best-position-scott-singer-posts-1-3m-opening-haul-toward-flipping-cd-23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">raising over $1.34 million<\/a> in the first quarter, including a $424,000 loan and nearly $923,000 from more than 3,600 individual donors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis fundraising milestone shows we are in the best position to highlight our record of results and take our common-sense, America First message directly to the voters throughout the Fall,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Singer still faces a Republican primary against other candidates, including former state Rep.\u00a0George Moraitis\u00a0and counterterrorism expert\u00a0Joe Kaufman. By being the first major contender to file his quarterly report, Singer has shown he is ready for the campaign ahead.
