Jacksonville Alderwoman Eren White-Williams has resigned from City Council.<\/p>\n
White-Williams said in an email that she “resigned as alderwoman a few days ago.” City officials confirmed she did resign last week. White-Williams was not immediately available for comment Monday morning.<\/p>\n
White-Williams represented residents of Ward 1 in Jacksonville after first being elected in 2017. The ward encompasses the blocks surrounding the downtown square along with most of the north part of Jacksonville until Diamond Street.<\/p>\n
She chaired the special studies committee, and her current term was set to expire in May 2027.<\/p>\n
As of Monday morning, it’s unclear why White-Williams resigned. At the March 9 council meeting, she showed up a little before 6 p.m. and spoke briefly to Mayor Andy Ezard before they both went through the back door of the council chambers. Ezard returned to the chamber at 6:01\u00a0p.m. for the council meeting, and White-Williams was seen leaving.
