This erosion really took them far back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/palm-beach-county\/beach-day-ruined-popular-palm-beach-access-points-closed-due-to-erosion\" class=\"ListItem \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ListItem-category\">Palm Beach<\/p>\n<p>    Beach day ruined: Popular Palm Beach access points closed due to erosion<\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Part of the beach is closed for the $15 million federally funded shore protection project.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will work in increments along a four-mile stretch, dumping sand from the St. Lucie County line to Stuart Beach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t look that bad, but it&#8217;s been eight years since we&#8217;ve restored this beach,\u201d said Jessica Garland, the coastal program manager for Martin County. \u201dWe have lost a lot of sand over eight years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Up in Fort Pierce, WPTV has tracked the ongoing <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/region-st-lucie-county\/fort-pierce\/emergency-sand-operations-continue-at-fort-pierces-jetty-park-beach-amid-severe-erosion-concerns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">restoration project at Jetty Park<\/a> for months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/palm-beach-county\/beach-renourishment-projects-bring-fresh-sand-to-coastlines-in-palm-beach-county-treasure-coast\" class=\"ListItem \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ListItem-category\">Palm Beach County<\/p>\n<p>    &#8216;It looks good&#8217;: Beaches are seeing fresh sand from renourishment projects<\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Video from mid-March shows what the progress looks like now, with work continuing a few more weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Back in Martin County, Garland said the project will wrap up May 1, protecting not just the sand, but wildlife and infrastructure, too.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If we don&#8217;t do it, it will be 10 times worse than if we did do it,&#8221; said Garland. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Beaches are closing in our area due to severe erosion.
