A Miami woman is behind bars after allegedly going on a luxury car shopping spree that would make even a Powerball winner blush. According to a report from 7 News Miami<\/a>, 38-year-old Dunia Sierra purchased an astonishing 10 vehicles in just eight days, between October 4 and October 12 2023.<\/p>\n

Her shopping list reads like a dream garage for enthusiasts. Among the vehicles was a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray<\/a>, a 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560<\/a>, a 2019 BMW i8<\/a>, and three 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, along with several other machines. What initially appeared to be the spending habits of a high-net-worth buyer, however soon unraveled into an alleged fraud scheme.<\/p>\n

Sierra now faces multiple felony charges, including organized fraud, grand theft, and vehicle-related fraud. Authorities say she was apprehended as part of an ongoing investigation led by the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office Organized Crimes Bureau Auto Crimes Task Force. The probe was focused on a broader fraud ring involving fraudulent auto loans and so-called \u201ccredit bust-outs.\u201d<\/p>\n

A credit bust-out is a scheme in which fraudsters finance multiple vehicles in quick succession, before the new debt shows up on credit reports. These operations often involve dealership finance managers who allegedly bypass lending guidelines to push loans through. The deals are frequently loaded with high-commission add-ons, such as extended warranties, boosting profits while increasing overall loan amounts.<\/p>\n

Investigators allege that Sierra claimed to be the general manager of a Miami Lakes restaurant, reporting an income exceeding $180,000 per month. In reality, authorities say she worked there as a waitress and cashier, and never held a managerial position. This alleged misrepresentation helped her secure financing for the string of high-value purchases.<\/p>\n

Sierra was arrested on Thursday, April 9, and is currently being held on a $26,000 bond. She may have quickly built herself a car collection worthy of a large dream garage … but now finds herself confined to a tiny jail cell.<\/p>\n
