A woman and her husband were found dead in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide at their home after one of them never made it to work.<\/p>\n
An investigation revealed Lorelei Strickland was fatally shot<\/a> by her husband, Jarrott Strickland, according to a news release from the Gulf County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n Gulf County sheriff\u2019s deputies began investigating after a 911 caller reported the afternoon of April 6 that \u201can employee of a local business had not reported to work\u201d and asked for a welfare check, the agency said.<\/p>\n Deputies visited the person\u2019s \u201clast known address,\u201d but left to check other locations \u201cafter receiving no answer at the door and observing no immediate signs of foul play,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n Estranged Husband Allegedly Killed Wife in Murder-Suicide, Leaving Children Without Parents in Florida<\/a><\/p>\n While deputies continued to investigate, family and friends went to the Stricklands\u2019 residence, where they found Lorelei and Jarrott dead in a bedroom, according to authorities.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was further reported that it appeared that they had been deceased for some time,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n When authorities arrived, they noticed that Lorelei had been fatally shot and that there were no \u201csigns of forced entry,\u201d according to the agency.<\/p>\n \u201cInitial findings from investigators and the Medical Examiner’s Office indicate that Mr. Strickland shot his wife and then\u201d died by suicide, the sheriff\u2019s office said. \u201cThis remains an active and ongoing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n Lorelei is survived by her sons, Jarrott and Jeremiah Strickland, as well as two grandchildren, \u201cwho were the light of her life,\u201d according to her online obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n Lorelei was 40 when she died, the obituary says.<\/p>\n
