A Jacksonville mom is pleading for help finding her 13-year-old daughter, saying she has not seen her since January and has not heard from her since early March.<\/p>\n
Kryshonda Thomas said her daughter, Xaiyah, was last seen after leaving Springfield Park in January.<\/p>\n
According to Thomas, she stayed in contact with her daughter for weeks after she initially left home. She said the teen would call and text frequently, but often would not share her exact location.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was calling in, texting all the time,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cSo I wasn\u2019t just too worried.\u201d<\/p>\n
During that time, she said her daughter was spending time on the Northside, but did not provide a specific address.<\/p>\n
Thomas said the last communication came on March 4, when her daughter sent a message to her sister saying she wanted to come home. \u201cShe said, \u2018These people won\u2019t let me go. I want to come home,’\u201d Thomas said.<\/p>\n
After that message, the family said all contact stopped.<\/p>\n
Thomas described her daughter as a \u201cgreat kid\u201d who enjoys spending time with family and younger siblings.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe listens. She doesn\u2019t talk back. She\u2019s just a great kid,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that her daughter played softball while living in Georgia and, after moving to Jacksonville, enjoyed going to the park, playing outside with her siblings, and spending time at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut since we\u2019ve been here, she just likes to take her little siblings to the park, come back home, be on her tablet, and play outside,” Thomas says.<\/p>\n
The family said Xaiyah had been adjusting to life in Jacksonville after moving from Waycross, Georgia.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe thought there was more to do here,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cBut she missed her friends and things in Waycross.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said she initially believed her daughter was simply trying to experience more independence as a teenager. \u201cI just really thought she wanted to see the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Xaiyah is described as 13 years old, about 5 feet tall, and around 120 pounds. The family said she may have a henna-style skull tattoo on her hand. Thomas said she is now offering a reward, about $4,000, for information that leads to her daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love you. Come home, everything\u2019s going to be okay. Just come home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
