(WITN) &#8211; A man wounded in a Sunday deputy-involved shooting in Dare County is from Jacksonville. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The SBI says Truman Gibson was shot after a routine traffic stop on U.S. 64 and Shipyard Road in Manns Harbor around 1:50 a.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The deputy and Gibson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/04\/12\/sbi-investigating-dare-county-officer-involved-shooting\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/04\/12\/sbi-investigating-dare-county-officer-involved-shooting\/\">got into a fight <\/a>when the deputy tried to arrest him, according to the SBI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gibson was hit by gunfire and is in critical condition at ECU Health Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The SBI says the 49-year-old was wanted for a probation violation and had a full extradition warrant for a firearm by felon charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Court records say Gibson is from Jacksonville and in late January he left his home and had not shown up for any meetings with his probation officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WITN.
