TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Apalachee Parkway on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. <\/p>\n
FHP troopers say the crash unfolded at about 6:45 p.m.. A sedan driven by a 22-year-old Monticello woman was heading westbound on Apalachee Parkway, approaching Williams Road, as a pedestrian was walking across Apalachee from south to north.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The pedestrian] exited the center grassy median and walked directly in the path of [the car] in lane [number] one of US-27,\u201d FHP reports. <\/p>\n
The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency crews, officials say. <\/p>\n
The pedestrian\u2019s identity remains unknown, and law enforcement is still trying to contact their family, according to FHP.<\/p>\n
The incident blocked the westbound lanes of US-27, and traffic was rerouted for about three hours, according to FHP.<\/p>\n
