MIAMI \u2013 The Miami Heat are holding their season-ending media session today at Kaseya Center.<\/p>\n
Among the comments offered were:<\/p>\n
\u2013 Coach Erik Spoelstra said he sees a future of the Bam Adebayo-Kel\u2019el Ware pairing.<\/p>\n
\u2013 \u201cThey were able to do it in more impactful games down the stretch,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u2013 \u201cBoth of them took a jump,\u201d Spoelstra said.<\/p>\n
\u2013 He added, \u201cYou need to be able to play big. You also need to be able to play small.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of the Tyler Herro-Norman Powell pairing, Spoelstra said, \u201cIt ended up being a challenge at the very end.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 He said injuries muddled that mix, \u201cbut we would have been able to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of the pairing with Herro, Powell said, \u201cI don\u2019t think we got a full chance to figure that out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Powell added, \u201cIt\u2019s really tough not seeing what it could be.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013\u00a0Powell said the plan again is to work in the offseason with the Jamaican national team.<\/p>\n
\u2013 He added, \u201cI\u2019m fully invested into the Jamaican national team.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of the sudden end to the season, Spoelstra said, \u201cWe don\u2019t like this feeling at all, being off in the middle of April.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 He said there had been a clear path to something better than the No. 10 seed, \u201cI truly felt that there could have been four to six more wins on the table for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 He added, \u201cBut we\u2019ll be motivated moving forward. The front office, they\u2019re already going to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 \u201cWe\u2019re going to get to work this summer,\u201d he said of being better.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of those wins that might have gotten away, Davion Mitchell said he felt there were too many games when the Heat let up after establishing leads.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Jaime Jaquez Jr., when asked to sum up the season, \u201cWe had a lot of good moments, a lot of not-so-good moments.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 He added, \u201cWe just couldn\u2019t put it together enough times when we needed it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Asked about his final message today to players, he said, \u201cIt\u2019s amazing how fast these seasons go. And that\u2019s the message you try to implore during the season. We weren\u2019t able to maximize what we thought the potential of this team could be.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of his highlight moment of the season, Spoelstra said,\u00a0 \u201cThe beginning of the season, there was an energy and momentum. I thought we were going to build off that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 He added, \u201cThis was a great group to be around. I commend the competitive character of this group.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Still, Mitchell said he would like to see teammates get together more in the offseason.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Of the team\u2019s youth, Spoelstra said, \u201cOur young guys got a lot better, all down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 In that regard, Spoelstra cited the seasons of Ware, Jaquez, Pelle Larsson and Kasparas Jakucionis.<\/p>\n
\u2013 As for the struggles of Nikola Jovic, Spoelstra cited Jaquez as a potential bounce-back comparison.<\/p>\n
\u2013 \u201cWhat he does fits,\u201d Spoelstra said of Jovic.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Spoelstra termed the team\u2019s new offense a success, \u201cOur offense looked great against a lot of the teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 Added, \u201cWe\u2019ll dive into all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2013 But said still thinking about the season-turning plays at the close of Tuesday night\u2019s play-in overtime loss to the Charlotte Hornets.<\/p>\n
\u2013 \u201cWe had our opportunities,\u201d Spoelstra said.<\/p>\n
