FORT LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA. (WSVN) – The fate of Spirit Airlines appears to be uncertain once again.<\/p>\n
The Wall Street Journal and CNBC reported this week that the South Florida-based company could soon end operations as early as this week.<\/p>\n
With fuel as one of its largest expenses, Spirit faces potential liquidation as a result of rising jet fuel prices, caused by the war with Iran.<\/p>\n
Rumors have swirled after a bankruptcy court hearing in New York Wednesday led to a dispute between the airline\u2019s creditors and the airline itself.<\/p>\n
Travelers at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport who spoke with 7News on Thursday reacted to the speculation.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, we were talking about it in the plane on the way down, another passenger and I. He said he didn\u2019t think they\u2019d make the summer,\u201d said a man.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like Spirit. I\u2019m just hoping it doesn\u2019t happen; I hope they find a way to get it all back together,\u201d said a woman.<\/p>\n
All of this comes as the struggling airline is attempting to exit its second bankruptcy in less than a year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think competition is good for our prices, so I hate to see it go away,\u201d said a third traveler.<\/p>\n
