TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As Friday marks one year since a gunman opened fire on Florida State University\u2019s campus<\/a>, university officials are providing resources for those in need as they reflect and honor the lives lost in the shooting.<\/p>\n

The shooting last year on April 17 claimed the lives of two<\/a> and left several others injured.<\/p>\n

A year later, the university is set to hold a moment of silence at noon Friday to reflect, according to a statement shared to FSU\u2019s website Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Student Government Association will also have a space dedicated to reflection on Legacy Walk from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that same day. Flowers will be available near the FSU letters and there will be opportunities to share messages. <\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Unconquered Statue will be lit throughout the day as a symbol of remembrance.<\/p>\n

FSU President Richard McCullough said in a video message that the university stands with \u201ceveryone who carries the weight of that day and we remain committed to supporting you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we observe the one-year anniversary of the April 17 tragedy on our campus, we remember those who were lost, those who were injured and the families whose lives were forever changed,\u201d President McCullough said. \u201cWe continue to hold all of you close in our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCullough also highlighted the importance of continued support for students and faculty.<\/p>\n

Support is available through the university\u2019s counseling and psychological services, which offer walk-in appointments Monday through Friday. Students can also call anytime at 850-644-8255. <\/p>\n

The Victim Advocate Program can be reached any time by phone at 850-644-7161, by text at 850-756-4320, or by email<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Assistance for faculty, staff and graduate students can schedule an appointment through the Employee Assistance Program at 850-644-2288. <\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for looking out for one another for taking part in this moment as a community,\u201d the university president said.<\/p>\n
