JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 It has been just under 300 days since Florida\u2019s \u201cSuper Speeder\u201d law went into effect. The law criminalizes driving 50+ miles per hour over the speed limit or 100+ miles per hour.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office released a video on social media<\/a> Tuesday stating that it has cited 46 \u201cSuper Speeders\u201d since the law began on July 1, 2025. The video shows Jacksonville Officer Chavez citing drivers for violating the law and even making an arrest.<\/p>\n >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n The excuses the drivers made didn\u2019t work. \u201cI was just trying to get home,\u201d one man said. \u201cMy grandmother is in the hospital and I was trying to get to her,\u201d a woman said.<\/p>\n \u201cMa\u2019am, you\u2019re going to the Duval County jail,\u201d Chavez told one of the drivers whose license was suspended.<\/p>\n Another officer remarked to Chavez his disbelief about how fast a person was driving. \u201c120 in a 55?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah,\u201d Chavez replied. \u201cHe was cookin\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Super speeders, be warned. \u201cSpeed kills.
