As heavy rain swept across the state, a tornado may have crashed into Mexico Beach<\/a> in the Florida Panhandle Monday morning, Oct. 27.<\/p>\n

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office reported that the worst damage from the suspected tornado in Mexico Beach was centered around the El Governor Beach Resort, 1701 U.S. 98, and adjacent RV park. No fatalities were reported, although BCSO says that two people were taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Meteorologist Jim Cantore called it a “dangerous storm” in a series of X posts<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n

Realtor Shandi Renea White was in the RV campground at the time and moved to the safety of the campers’ restroom, where she videoed the howling storm and posted images of the damages left behind<\/a>.<\/p>\n

American Red Cross Disaster Relief arrived within hours with water, ice and snacks, White said in a later post<\/a>, and Mission BBQ and Sonny’s BBQ were there to feed locals and linemen.<\/p>\n

“Damage in Mexico Bch appears minor and moderate. Some damage to buildings, some trees down,” the BCSO said in a Facebook update<\/a>. “The worst damage was to the RV Park near the El Governor Beach Resort.”<\/p>\n
