{"id":237305,"date":"2026-04-18T21:46:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T21:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/237305\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T21:46:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T21:46:09","slug":"davie-neighboring-cities-host-relay-for-life-event-in-plantation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/237305\/","title":{"rendered":"Davie, neighboring cities host Relay for Life event in Plantation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0April 18, 2026 at 5:25 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">DAVIE, Fla. \u2014 The Town of Davie is teaming up with neighboring cities for a night of community and a cause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Cooper City, Weston and Plantation are all part of the Relay for Life event hosted by the American Cancer Society.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Cancer survivors will lead the first lap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The event runs from 5 to 10 p.m., starting with school performances, followed by an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. that includes check presentations and a medal ceremony honoring cancer survivors and caregivers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Throughout the evening, families can enjoy food, games, a kids\u2019 zone and prize drawings. Davie will also be selling pulled chicken and meatball sandwiches to help raise funds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The goal is to raise $10,000, and organizers say they are close, with just over $1,000 left to reach it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Everyone was encouraged to wear purple.
