One of the first sticky notes left by Florida State University students, faculty and staff on the anniversary of the shooting on campus mourned the victims.<\/p>\n
“To those that passed and suffered know you are always with us,” it read.<\/p>\n
On the one-year anniversary Friday of the shooting on FSU\u2019s campus that left two dead and several others injured, the university held a moment of silence at noon and hosted memorial activities on campus.<\/p>\n
Members of FSU\u2019s student government handed out the sticky notes and flowers to students as they passed by FSU\u2019s student union where the attack happened last year. <\/p>\n

Students were also encouraged to write memorial messages on sticky notes before placing flowers.<\/p>\n

Florida State University also lit its Unconquered statue outside Doak Campbell Stadium for the anniversary.<\/p>\n

Kylie Lenard, an FSU Junior, was one of hundreds of students that participated.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving the flowers and, you know, being able to put up post it notes today, it’s just like reaffirming the sense of community within FSU, and that what we stand for is, you know, love conquers hate, love against all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Carson Dale, the university\u2019s student body president, also left flowers and spent the day at the memorial. He said student government and the university wanted to give students a place to process their feelings on the anniversary.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving a space for reflection is important. I think having space for students to not come and reflect and to stay home if they need to, it’s also important, really, just however students need to approach it, they need to be able to do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
University administrators are reminding students, faculty and staff that resources are available for anyone who needs support. The university referred them to these resources in a statement the day before the anniversary:<\/p>\n
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS): Walk-in appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Askew Student Life Center, second floor. Students can also call 24\/7 at (850) 644-TALK (8255).<\/p>\n
