JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A Jacksonville family is asking for the public\u2019s help in finding a 28-year-old man who has been missing for nearly a week, saying his disappearance is out of character and deeply concerning.<\/p>\n
Jo\u2019el Williams was last seen Sunday, April 12, around 8 p.m., leaving his sister\u2019s home in a gray 2010 Toyota Camry, according to his family.<\/p>\n
Since then, his family says there has been no communication \u2014 something they describe as completely out of character.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s indescribable,\u201d his father, Jeffrey Williams, said. \u201cI\u2019ve never gone a day without talking to my son.\u201d<\/p>\n
Family members describe Jo\u2019el as active, spontaneous and adventurous \u2014 someone who loved his family and stayed in constant contact.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe likes to dance. He love his family and he likes capturing the moments. He\u2019s inspiring,\u201d his sisters, Courtney and Brianna Williams describes.<\/p>\n
Courtney Williams said she was the last person to see him in person earlier that day, around 4 p.m., when he was helping with groceries and spending time at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was laughing, everything seemed normal,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Jeffrey Williams said he last spoke with his son later that night, around 9:30 p.m., and noticed something unusual.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a father, you know your son\u2019s voice,\u201d he said. \u201cHe was just talking, but I could hear a little worry\u2026 and I told him to go home son.\u201d<\/p>\n
Concern grew quickly the next day when calls and messages went unanswered.<\/p>\n
\u201cJo\u2019el normally texts me twice a day and calls me at least three times,\u201d his father said. \u201c\u201cI didn\u2019t get a respond. So I called his sister or brother. Matter of fact I called Brianna and told her, track your brother to see where he at. She said she couldn\u2019t pick him up so I talked to my other son and he said he couldn\u2019t pick him up and I talked to Courtney, and she couldn\u2019t pick him up. So I got real concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family says the days since have been filled with anxiety and uncertainty.<\/p>\n
\u201cI couldn\u2019t eat, I couldn\u2019t sleep,\u201d Jeffrey Williams said. \u201cIt\u2019s just pain not hearing from your son who you talk to every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family has filed a missing person report and been in contact with the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no active search for Joe,\u201d a family member explained. \u201cJSO says that he doesn\u2019t fit the criteria. The criteria being elderly, a child or diagnosed with mental health. The only information we have is that the car that he was in was last picked up on a camera on I-95 and Airport Rd going Northbound.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family says they have asked investigators about obtaining bank and phone records that could provide clues to his whereabouts but have not received clear answers on next steps.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just need help,\u201d Courtney said. \u201cTime is ticking. We don\u2019t know where he is \u2014 he could be hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond the investigation, the emotional toll has been heavy for the family, who say they are still grieving the loss of their mother in 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis feeling is familiar, and it\u2019s not a good one,\u201d Courtney Williams said. \u201cWe all are feeling it\u2026 we just want our brother home.\u201d<\/p>\n
They are now asking the community to help.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease, if you know something, say something,\u201d Jeffery Williams said. \u201cIf you feel you\u2019ve seen him, give us a call. If you feel you\u2019ve seen the car, give us a call. We have the tag number and everything on the flyer where you can just jot it down, whatever. We just need to know something.\u201d<\/p>\n
