FORT MYERS, Fla. \u2013 Jacksonville (29-16, 13-5 ASUN) used a pair of timely hits to prevail 3-1 over Florida Gulf Coast (16-28, 10-8) in a Sunday pitcher’s duel.<\/p>\n
The Dolphins struck quickly in the top half of the first. After a walk, hit by pitch and wild pitch, Sarah Beth Brake lifted a sacrifice fly to center field. One batter later, Lindsay Chadwick doubled down the left field line to score Kate Linkletter and put JU up 2-0.<\/p>\n
Jaida Thomas tallied Jacksonville’s second hit of the day in the third inning with a leadoff triple and scored on a one-out error, also off the bat of Brake.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Eagles pushed their only run of the day across in the fifth. Kiki Daniels<\/a> led off with a double to left center and Olivia Black<\/a> singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Sietske Drijvers<\/a> hit a ground ball to third base, but Black beat out the throw to second, and Daniels scored easily. Grace Taylor<\/a> entered and dealt three hitless innings, but Jacksonville held on to take the series.<\/p>\n Tiffany Meek<\/a> made her 200th career start for the Eagles on Sunday.
